Australasian registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT®)

AREMT-EMT program is designed to prepare students for positions in urban suburban and rural Emergency Medical Services in 160 recognized countries. The aim is to enhance the knowledge and skills levels of Healthcare Providers to Stabilize and treat emergency patients.

The Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT) is a gateway to your professional EMT qualifications becoming recognized within the Australia, Oceania, South East Asia, China and UK Regions. AREMT mission is to provide an internationally recognized Australian Registry of certified EMTs underpinned by current relevant Australian and international EMT qualifications and guidelines. The recognition of Industrial, private and Ambulatory EMTs.

AREMT is to be an independent, non governmental and free standing organization established to further the recognition, status and continuing education of EMTs in Australia and overseas.

AREMT aims to provide registered EMTs the ability to have their skills recognized in Australia and internationally with other overseas countries, whose EMT organizations are affiliated with AREMT and have reciprocation with AREMT.

Heartsaver® Courses

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many Heartsaver courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years.

1. HEARTSAVER FIRST AID

Heartsaver® First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.

Audience

This course is for non healthcare professionals who need to know how to respond to emergencies with essential first aid knowledge , in a wide variety of out-of-hospital settings. Apt for employees working in construction companies, hotels, banks or any lay person interested to learn life saving first aid skills.

Course Format

Initial Provider Course requires approximately 3 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.

4. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Audience

This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card, which is valid for two years. In the classroom, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

5. ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

Audience

ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
Valid Basic Life Support Certificate Mandatory to attend ACLS

Course Content

• Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
• Airway management
• Related pharmacology
• Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke

Course Format

Initial Provider Course requires approximately 14-16 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing. 6. PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA Certified

This classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Audience

The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

7. ECG & Pharmacology American Heart Association (AHA) Certified

This course is for healthcare professionals who participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others who require this specialized knowledge for their job.

Course Content

• Basic electrophysiology
• Normal ECG measurements
• Basic arrhythmias
• Administration of appropriate drugs within the ACLS algorithms

Course Format

ECG & Pharmacology is a classroom-based, Facilitator-led course that includes two modules: ECG and Pharmacology, which may be offered together or separately. ECG takes approximately 4 hours to complete; Pharmacology takes about 2 hours to complete. When combined, the estimated course length is 6 hours.
